The test every helmet must pass is providing a high level of ballistic protection for its wearers. This was what Special Operations Command (SOCOM) went for when they awarded Gentex Corporation their contract of Special Operations Forces Personal Equipment Advanced Requirements (SPEAR). It was a 5-year contract of $95 million, and it was specifically for the supply of Ops-Core FAST SF Super High Cut helmet.
The helmet is a combat helmet, and Gentex Corporation is not new in manufacturing Ops-Core helmets. In fact, they manufactured the combat helmet being used by the military, but the most advanced is the Ops-Core FAST SF Super High Cut helmet, and it is the new helmet for SOCOM. There are different remarkable features but topping the list is how this helmet truly provides enough protection for its wearers. In extension, it is designed so that it comfortably makes room for communication and hearing aid devices that are of extreme importance to the SOCOM operation; the wearer can access these devices without any form of distraction being caused. What the helmet also makes room for are other military accessories like night vision goggles, a visor, and motorcycle-style mandible. The helmet equally guarantees increased airflow, and it is easy to use. Also, these new helmets will be lighter than the old ones that were used by SOCOM.
The SOCOM has been searching for an advanced type of helmet for a while, and without a doubt, this new helmet is a great replacement and another best type of ballistic helmet. Nothing beats the wearers’ satisfaction because what the new helmet promises them is the assurance that they are adequately protected and can efficiently function without any form of hindrance. Importantly, this helmet is like every other ballistic helmet, but what differentiates it is the high-cut design that makes all the above features possible.
